On 12 June 2026, students participated in a self-directed learning (SDL) Math activity which aimed to help students apply real-life calculation skills by comparing prices from two supermarkets. Students collected price data, calculated unit costs for daily breakfast portions, and determined the cheaper option. They then wrote a short English report to present their findings. By connecting Math with daily spending decisions, the activity taught students how to become smart shoppers – using numbers to save money and make informed choices. Mathematical reasoning and basic English writing were strengthened together.
